Dr. Lisa Z. Warren has been working in the mental health field for over 20 years. She obtained a Summa Cum Laude Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas Women’s University and a Master’s and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She completed her pre-doctoral internship in Albany, NY. From 2001 to 2013, she worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families in East Central Illinois, with the exception of 15 months in 2007-2008 when she lived in Nova Scotia, Canada. During that time, she worked with adjudicated and incarcerated youths from the Maritime provinces. Since 2013, she has lived and worked in central Texas, primarily with active duty military.
Dr. Warren has extensive background in child and adolescent development, delinquency, parenting, couples’ issues, psychological testing, and trauma-informed treatment. She has prepared pre-disposition psychological evaluations for juveniles in several counties in Illinois and in Nova Scotia. She has also conducted custody and visitation evaluations since 2003. She accepts clients regardless of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, gender identity or sexual orientation.
Dr. Warren draws on many perspectives in conceptualizing a case, but her approach to assessment and intervention is best described as eclectic with a strong cognitive-behavioral bent. She is experienced and adept at consulting and collaborating with a variety of professionals, including teachers, attorneys, caseworkers, law enforcement, and medical personnel. She is committed to providing fair and ethical assessment and consultation services.
Dr. Warren is a member of Psychologists for Social Responsibility, the Austin Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, and the Texas Psychological Association.
